Sullivan County is an area in the southern part of New York State—near the Catskills—adjacent to Delaware, Ulster, and Orange Counties, as well as to Pike and Wayne Counties in Pennsylvania. Having split from Ulster County in 1809, it's named for Major General John Sullivan, a prominent Revolutionary War hero.
